June 27 Veggie Update

My veggie garden is coming along. I'm still not convinced that it's getting enough sun but we shall see. I put in tomato fertilizer plugs when I originally planted the tomatoes. Last weekend, I put Miracle-Gro on my flowers and most of the veggies. My Dad (the farmer) swears by it. He uses it a lot, especially on my Mom's flower basket (like every couple days). She has the craziest, biggest flower basket around. He likes it because it's easy to use, won't burn the plants and shows results within a couple days.

All the veggies are growing. I've thinned some of them. I've been staking my tomatoes as needed and removing some of the suckers and bottom leaves. I also have given each tomato a "rock nanny". I saw somewhere online that tomatoes like heat so I put a rock with each one to give them more heat after the sun goes down.

I also have a number of grow bags in a different spot in the backyard. Those get a lot more sun. They're supposed to be good for air pruning the roots of the plants as well.
